UPDATE: The New York State Police released more information about the missing man on May 19. This story has been updated to include the new information.

BATH, N.Y. (WETM) — Police are asking for continued support from the community in the search for a missing Painted Post man.

As of Friday, May 26, Joseph McGrath is still missing, according to New York State Police.

According to police, Joseph J. McGrath, 80, was last seen in the Village of Bath on May 2, 2023. McGrath has Parkinson’s disease and bipolar disorder. Police say he may be suicidal and in need of medical attention.

McGrath is a 5’3″ white man and weighs 150 pounds. He has gray hair, brown eyes, and the name “Joe” tattooed on his right arm. McGrath was last seen wearing transition eyeglasses, a hat that says “Army” on the front, a blue t-shirt, a black jacket, blue jeans, and black boots. He typically uses an umbrella or cane to assist with walking.

Police say McGrath is likely either traveling by foot or might take a bus.

Anyone with information on the location of McGrath is asked to call 1-800-346-3543. Police are asking the public not to leave tips on Facebook. Images of McGrath can be found below.
