Sears, the store that’s been in business for more than 100 years, will soon be closing more than 100 stores across the United States.
It’s the latest move from the chain after it filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Here is a map of sears locations in our area, just one, at the Arnot Mall. That also includes the auto service center.
The good news, that location is spared for now. According to a report from USA Today, that location is not on the list. It’s still unclear what the future holds for that store.
We reached out to Arnot Mall and Sears Holdings to answer these questions, and have not heard back.
18 News asked viewers to share some of their favorite memories at Sears. Here’s what some had to say:
Rodney Hall said, “I worked at sears for 10 years. left in 2001. sadly we saw the writing on the wall back then. Worked with many great people, and still keep in touch with a pretty big group of them to this day. It was a blast working there, and am very sad to see its impending demise.”
Debra Banks said, “I loved the big display windows with the finely dressed mannequins. My grandmother bought me beautiful bedding and matching curtains from there, I was so thrilled as a child. I also received a sewing machine for my graduation from Sears.”
Mareena Butler Kizis said, “We use to love Sears, my mom shopped for us for school clothes back in the sixties, ordering from their catalog. We use to go down to Sears and get the big boxes the appliances came in and rode downhill on the grass and the snow.”
With the Arnot Mall location location still open, more memories are sure to come.
