Elmira Police respond to Walnut St. shooting, no one injured

10:45 AM UPDATE – Elmira Police responded to the 800 block of Walnut Street around 2:40 a.m. on September 9 for a report of shots fired.

Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots, and officers found several casings and a house that had several bullet holes. Police determined no one was injured.

The investigation revealed that more than one shooter approached the house, fired several shots, and then fled on foot. Police believe the house was targeted.

The investigation is ongoing, so police are asking anyone with information to call the Elmira Police Department at 607-737-5626 or the tip line at 607-271-HALT.
