An Elmira man who was wanted in connection to a robbery that took place in November was arrested Sunday after a traffic stop.
An Elmira Police Officer spotted Tareek Simmons in the back passenger seat of a car on Lake Street around midnight on Sunday.
When the officer initiated a traffic stop, Simmons fled. After a brief chase, he was eventually taken into custody.
When Police retraced their steps during the foot chase, a loaded firearm was also discovered, which Simmons allegedly discarded.
Along with his robbery warrant, Simmons was additionally charged with criminal possession of a weapon, a felony, and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
