Statewide ban on outdoor burning

outdoor burning

The mix of heavy winds and dry weather could be a recipe for disaster.

Along with the current wind advisory, a statewide ban on outdoor burning is in place until May 14th. Areas like the Catskills and Adirondack Mountains are considered high risk.

While campfires using charcoal or untreated wood are allowed, the goal is to never leave them unattended.  Violators of the state’s open burning regulation could face a minimum fine of $500.

The state takes these type of offenses very seriously as it only takes one spark to create a tragedy when it comes to these high wind conditions.
