Local News

UPDATE (3/1): The Steele Memorial Library has reopened after experiencing boiler issues Thursday night.

Chemung County Library Director Ron Shaw says that a few values were stuck closed and causing the pressure release valve to open.

Shaw says the boiler is original to the building, which was built in 1978. The library is budgeting for a new boiler which could cost around $12,000.

The Steele Memorial Library will be closed on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, due to a boiler issue.

There’s no word yet on when the library will be able to reopen.
