Summer Meals for Local Kids

Local News

Kids and teens who get free or reduced lunch during the school year can get free meals this summer. Families just need to know where to find them.

Just because school is out doesn’t mean local children can’t get the same free or reduced-cost meals they rely on during the school year.

Any child 18 and younger can eat free at designated summer meal sites across the Twin Tiers.

This summer, the USDA plans to serve millions of free meals to children at approved Summer Food Service Program sites across the country and right here in the Twin Tiers. There’s no enrollment and no cost.

The local program is made possible by a combined effort of community organizers with grassroots ownership supported by the resources of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.

Sites are located throughout Chemung, Steuben and Schuyler counties. Information on sites throughout the area can be found by dialing 2-1-1 or visiting www.211helpline.org.
