Welcome to Louies in Horseheads, a family owned and operated restaurant that brings a traditional Italian cuisine and an upscale dining experience to Hanover Square.
“We’ve been around almost 11 years now,” Owner, Jim Ferratella said. “I own this with my two older brothers, we named it after my father that’s Louies.”
Authentic Italian food with a spin on upscale dining; that’s what Louies brings to the table. Recently, the restaurant has upgraded their space to accommodate the increasing demand.
“We just finished this past summer, we doubled the size of the restaurant,” Ferratella said. “So, after all this time, we were a small 13 table bistro, now, we can serve over 90 and have the kitchen capacity to do it. So, we’re happy that we have slowly grown to what we are now.”
The restaurant’s wood tables and floors, along with black leather seating, gives the restaurant a sleek, metropolitan feel. And, on the food front, Head Chef, Rainer Kocher, has worked with the Ferratellas to provide delicious entrees that taste and feel like they’re from Italy. Their most popular dish is the chicken carbonara.
“Carbonara, this is one of our most popular entrees,” Kocher said. “It’s been a staple forever. Rigatoni, chicken, mushrooms, kind of a light cream sauce and black pepper.”
And it doesn’t stop at pastas. In fact, Louies makes pizza, Italian sandwiches, chicken dishes, fresh garden salads with homemade crutons, and of course, surf and turf.
“So, it’s always fresh,” Ferratella said. “It’s never the same thing on the menu all the time. Each week you’re coming in, you might get a filet you might get a strip, you might get grouper, you might get salmon. So, people are really enjoying those items on our menu.”
No matter the occasion, Louies prepares quality food and presents a comfortable dining experience.
