Teaching aide announces run for seat on the Corning City Council

Local News

Long-time Corning resident Candice Hill is looking to represent Corning’s Second Ward. She announced her candidacy this weekend.

Some of the issues Hill said she wants to tackle include the city’s economic development, public safety, and fixing the city’s aging infrastructure.

Her resume consists of working in Corporate America and is right now a teaching aide at Frederick Carder Elementary School. Hill says the skills she got from these professions would help her if elected. Hill said she sees this as giving back to her community.

“I’m very people oriented, I’m a good listener,” Hill said. “I’ve done a lot of things with our PTA and worked in the leadership with our PTA so I’m really good working with people.”

The Second Ward is currently represented by Kate Paterson.

Hill said she will be going door-to-door to meet and talk with neighbors, to get an idea of what her neighbors’ concerns are. She will run on the Republican, Independence, and Conservative tickets.
