ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Officials at Ernie Davis Academy say a threat shared on Facebook Tuesday night was deemed to be “not credible.”
The post claimed that a middle school student threatened to shoot another middle school student or to ‘shoot up the school.’
Principal Carrie Rollins emailed families Tuesday at 10:16 p.m. to say that the investigation was conducted and the threat was unfounded.
“Our community quickly rallied last night, alerting the school district about this social media post. We partner with local law enforcement to quickly determine credibility, identify who is involved and to outline appropriate next steps. In this particular case, an investigation was thoroughly and properly done and the claim of a threat was found not credible. We urge our students and families to always communicate with school district administration and local law enforcement with concerns. Reporting concerns directly to school authorities and law enforcement is safest and most effective.Elmira City School District
The district also reminds parents to update their contact information so they can be reached effectively.
