The Tioga Downs Regional Community Foundation will be donating a total of $1 million during 2019.
The first round of donations comes in the form of a $500,000 grant that will be awarded to local charities. Applications are currently being accepted for the grant; the deadline is May 31 and the money will be awarded in July. Grants are accepted on a rolling basis.
The Community Foundation was founded by Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural.
“Those who are fortunate enough to have the financial means to better the lives of others should do so whenever possible. I view it as a moral obligation,” Gural said. “I have a great care and concern for this community, and will always be committed to improving the quality of life for our neighbors.”
“We are trying to promote community development, economic development, educational development,” Roseanne Cole, Executive Director for the foundation, said.
Charitable, religious, literary, scientific, and educational 501(c)(3) organizations from Chemung, Bradford, Broome, and Tioga counties are eligible. For more information, and to apply for the grant, click here.
Awardees will be notified by the end of June. The number of groups accepted for the grant will depend on how many apply. So far, there are about 25 applicants.
