Travel Restrictions On I-80 In Pennsylvania

Local News

Due to extreme winter road conditions, PennDOT is temporarily restricting certain vehicles from Interstate 80 in north central Pennsylvania.

The restriction is from Exit 212B (I-180 West/Williamsport) in Northumberland County to Exit 260B (I-81 north/Wilkes-Barre) in Luzerne County and includes combination loads, empty trailer trucks, twin trailer vehicles, vehicles with tow-behind trailers, motorcycles and RV’s.

Although PennDOT crews are treating roadways throughout the region motorists may encounter slick and icy conditions. Drivers should be alert and drive with caution.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 770 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
