The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce’s Trolley into Mark Twain Country begins its 2019 summer tours. The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce has been providing tours each summer for the last 30 years to promote tourism in the area.
The guided tours on the air-conditioned trolley depart every hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays, starting July 2 through August 31.
The ride includes a 60-minute narrated tour of Elmira and its rich history, including the Mark Twain Study, where the author wrote his most famous books; the Civil War Prison Camp site; the Arnot Art Museum, and many more historic locations.
Reservations are not required, but are preferred to guarantee a spot. Tickets can be purchased at the Chemung Valley History Museum information desk. Adults are $8, students ages 5-18 are $4, and children 4 and younger are free.
For an additional $2, riders may also tour the Chemung Valley History Museum. For more information about the trolley, click here, or call the Chamber at (607) 734-5137.
