Two arrested for stealing over $800 worth of groceries

ERWIN, N.Y. (WETM) – Three people were arrested for stealing over $800 in two separate incidents at the Erwin Walmart.

On Sunday, Sept. 15, New York State Police were called to the Walmart’s on Silverback lane in the Town of Erwin, for a report of a shoplifter. Walmart Loss Prevention told Police that Lindsey Hunt, 35, had stolen $279.34 worth of merchandise.

Hunt was processed at the Painted Post Station and issued tickets for Petit Larceny and will return to the Town of Erwin court at a later date.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, New York State Police were again called to the Walmart in the Town of Erwin. State Police located one of the subjects involved in the shoplifting, Savenna Carey, 20, and took her and the stolen merchandise back to the Walmart.

Walmart Loss Prevention held a second subject at the store, Megan Dean, 23, who cooperated with Police. Carey had a shopping cart with $520.36 worth of food and an additional $15.60 food that she had stolen.

The pair, Carey and Dean were banned from going onto Walmart property and issued appearance tickets for petit larceny.
