Two injured after boat rear-ends another boat on Cayuga Lake

UPDATE: New York State Police issued the following update on the boat crash Wednesday in Lansing.

 On April 14, 2021 at approximately 1:11 p.m., New York State Police at Ithaca responded to a boating accident near Myers Park in the town of Lansing. 

Troopers were assisted by members from the Ithaca Fire Department who were able to assist the boaters back to shore utilizing their boat.  The Lansing Fire Department also responded to the scene.  An investigation at the scene revealed that one boat was rear-ended by a second boat while out on the water.   

A 65-year-old male was taken by Bangs ambulance to a landing zone then airlifted to Upstate Medical Center.   A 72-year-old male was transported by Bangs ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center.  Both were in the boat that was rear-ended.   

Two people on the other boat ages 61 and 69 were not injured.  


LANSING, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Two people were injured when one boat rear-ended another boat on Cayuga Lake. The crash happened just after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

New York State Police and the Ithaca Fire Department were able to bring the boats back to shore.

Two people in the boat that was hit were taken to local hospitals. The two people in the other boat were not injured. 

The accident remains under investigation.
