UPDATE: ‘Dangerous’ convicted rapist back in custody

The NYS Department of Corrections said Ronald Cook was taken in to custody by Binghamton Police this weekend.

Police said Cook was found Saturday thanks to cooperation by law enforcement agencies, and valuable tips from the public.

The convicted rapist is being held in the Broome County jail as a parole violator, but will be brought back to Central New York to face criminal charges. 


ORIGINAL: The NYS Department fo Corrections says 66-year-old Ronald Cook was last seen in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area on Friday around 12:30 p.m. 

Thursday, the State Department of Corrections issued a warning to residents in the Utica to be on the look out for for Cook who was convicted of first-degree rape and escaped parole. 

 Cook appears to have cut off his GPS ankle bracelet.  Investigators now say he was last seen wearing a dark jacket.

Cook is 5’9″ and weighs 240 pounds, has hazel eyes and gray hair. 

Cook is considered to be dangerous, and if you see him, call 911.
