Imagine becoming the CEO of a company before you even graduate from high school.

What may seem like a distant dream to some people, became a reality for students in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (Y.E.A) 

Y.E.A  is like the hit TV show Shark Tank, but for students. Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to work alongside and develop relationships with local business leaders. Each student received funding from local investors to sponsor their entrepreneurial ventures.

Angelea Collins, graduated in 2016 and her business, Frosted, has been booming ever since. Frosted is a company that sells cupcakes.Collins she says she still continues to receive orders for parties and graduations and is sure today’s graduates will as well. 

Although the 28- week program may seem  may seem like a long time for some,Y.E.A participants say its worth it. 

Collins said, “It’s an amazing program and it teaches you many lessons and its definitely worth it. The reward is great.”

President of the Corning Area Chamber of Commerce, Denise Ackley, says you don’t need to have everything already mapped out, all you need is passion. “If you have a passion a hobby, it can be turned into a business, and we would love the opportunity to help you”

If you wish to apart of next years graduating class, Y.E.A is now accepting applications.
