WETM-TV mourns the loss of a true pillar in the community.
Bob Moran, who dedicated his life to the Twin Tiers, died Friday after battling lung issues in Cleveland, Ohio with his family by his side. Moran was 75. Bob was a staple in local broadcasting since the 1960’s and proudly served the United states Navy.
Moran worked at our former WETM-TV location on Hawley Hill Road in Elmira with the likes of WETM legends the late Bruce Flaherty, Rod Denson, and Carl Proper. Bob’s grandson, Jeffrey, won the 2018 Twin Tiers Sports Award for Inspiration of The Year for his standout play as a special needs athlete in the community.
Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home in Elmira on Friday, September 21st 2018 from 2 pm to 4 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm. A full celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Westside United Methodist Church in Elmira.
A lifelong resident of Elmira, Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mariann L. Moran; son Lee M. Moran; three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Megan and Molly Moran; and plenty more members of his extended family. Moran proudly served his country and then his community in law enforcement with the Elmira Police for 27 years.
WETM-TV and 18 Sports honors Bob Moran for all of his outstanding contributions to the area he loved so much in this special video.
