Odessa – Montour Central school district prides themselves in a family atmosphere.
“My definition of family would be the support,” said Odessa school nurse Jane O’ Neil.
Her feelings about the school is not dissimilar to other storylines. The great pride the school has is significant.
“In a small school like Odessa – Montour, people look out for eachother,” said Odessa – Montour Superintendent Chris Wood. “At the end of the day I know that everybody here is looking out for our kids and looking out for the community,” added Wood.
Junior – Senior Highschool principal Skip McCarty has deep ties to the school.
“I think my father graduated from here when it was just Odessa. My parents went here. I went here. My brothers and sisters went here.”
And for the staff at Odessa – Montour school district, arriving to work isn’t just arriving to work. It’s something much more profound.
“We try to set a good example,” said Odessa Teacher and Athletic Director Greg Gavich. “Your character is what you do,” added Gavich.
“It’s really neat to see where people go in life and knowing that some little small part you’ve been able to help them get there,” said Jane O’ Neil.
