ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM-TV) – Elmira Police have released an update to a fatal hit-and-run on the southside of the city early Wednesday morning.

As an update to the earlier Press Release issued by the Elmira Police Department in regards to the Fatal Motor Vehicle/Pedestrian Collision occurring on Clemens Center Parkway. The Elmira Police Department is no longer actively seeking the striking vehicle as it has been located.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – A man is dead after he was hit by a truck in the City of Elmira early Wednesday morning, and police are looking for the driver.

Elmira Police responded to Clemens Center Parkway near Pennsylvania Avenue on December 8 around 3:40 a.m. for a report of a man lying in the road. When they arrived, police found that the man was dead after apparently being hit by a vehicle.

Police found evidence on the scene that indicated the vehicle was a Ford F150 years ranging from 2015-2020 and likely red or maroon in color. The truck was traveling south on Clemens Center Parkway and fled the scene before police arrived.

Elmira Police and the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office looked for the truck but were unable to find it, but they said it should have significant damage on the front. There were also reportedly no witnesses to the accident.

The identity of the victim will not be released until his family is notified.
