A Northern New York man has been found guilty of murdering his wife and a State Trooper who responded to his home during a domestic dispute in 2017.
On Wednesday, a jury decided that Justin Walters was in control and fully aware of his actions on July 9, 2017, when he shot and killed two people.
On that date, Trooper Joel Davis was the first on the scene of a domestic violence call in the Jefferson County town of Theresa.
Walters’ wife, Nichole, was found shot and killed in the couple’s driveway. Walters then shot and killed Davis.
He was found guilty on 52 counts, including murder, attempted murder, and assault.
Walters’ lawyers argued that he has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from time spent serving in Afghanistan and was not in the right mind during the murders.
