Surveillance video shows the moment three cars carrying sand and lumber completely derailed from the Delaware Lackawanna Railroad.
Dickson City’s Acting Police Chief William Bilinsky was watching from his patrol car as the whole incident unfolds.
“I noticed that one of the train cars, the wheel on it hoped over the track and the rail cars started to bounce until it build momentum and they tipped over.”
The railroad company is working with Acting Chief Bilinsky to determine a cause of the derailment, but initial indications lean towards a rail separation.
Acting Chief Bilinsky said a report will be filed with the national transportation safety board which investigates these types of accidents.
