ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — With only two weeks left until the start of the 2019 school year, it looks like some students won’t be moving into their dorm at Elmira College. A notice on the Twin Towers Dormitory was posted on Tuesday morning stating that the building had unsafe equipment and was unfit for occupancy.

The Twin Towers dorms house 382 co-ed students each semester, according to the universities website, making it the largest on-campus residence.

One Elmira native and aspiring video game programmer wants to give a special gift to the City of Elmira, a redesigned flag for the city of Elmira of his own creation. He says the flag is exactly what he envisions when he thinks of his birth city. His goal is to have the city use his version of the Elmira flag.

Several Philadelphia officers were shot and wounded during a standoff. The shooting started when a warrant was served at a home in North Philadelphia.

Some officers jumped out of windows to avoid the spray of bullets. The neighborhood locked down… a local daycare facility evacuated. The suspect is now in custody.
