ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Major renovations may be coming to Ernie Davis Park. The upgrades would include a basketball court and a new playground. It would be also be ADA accessible. If the city is approved for the $13,000 grant needed to complete the project, the park could be finished by this time next year.

More than 18.6 million dollars in farmland protection grants are on their way to New York dairy farms. According to the Governor’s office, the funding is provided to 25 dairy farms for conservation easement projects across New York State. The money helps to ensure that the land remains used for agricultural purposes.

A New State law prohibits courts from denying child adoptions to petitioners who are already a legally-recognized parent. The bill signed into law by the governor protects parents whose names were not on the birth certificate, same-sex couples, and parents who had a child through surrogacy from being denied an adoption.
