UPDATE 1:26 p.m.: The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down between Ulster and Rome Townships Tuesday evening.

The NWS says that the width of the tornado’s path is about 200 yards and that the path length still to be determined. Wind speeds are projected to have been between 100-110 mph.

Crews noted roof damage due to trees and that the damage converges into a smaller location because of the rotational component in a tornado that wasn’t spreading out.
