NBC Announces Midseason Premiere Dates: When Does The Bible Sequel A.D. Debut?

Hallelujah! We now have a date for the second coming… of producer Mark Burnett‘s religious miniseries The Bible. NBC announced its midseason premiere dates Friday, with top-billing going to its risky miniseries A.D.

The 12-hour miniseries, which chronicles the path of Jesus Christ (Juan Pablo di Pace) and his disciples following his crucifixion, will premiere on Sunday, April 5 at 9/8c. A.D. is Burnett’s follow-up to The Bible, which was a ratings hit for History.

Spy drama Allegiance, about a pair of deactivated Russian spies living in America who are brought back into duty to turn their CIA analyst son, debuts Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10/9c. Hope DavisScott Cohen, and Gavin Stenhouse star.

Family drama gets slap-happy in The Slap, an adaptation of the Australian miniseries about a Greek family that sees its secrets exposed after one member disciplines another couple’s child with a smack on the face. The Slap takes its first swing on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 8/7c, and stars an impressive cast that includes Peter SarsgaardUma ThurmanThandie NewtonMelissa George and Zachary Quinto.

Network television’s reinvention of family comedy continues with One Big Happy, starring Elisha Cuthbert as a lesbian whose plan to raise a kid with her straight, male BFF goes awry when he suddenly marries. Look for it on Tuesday, March 7 at 9:30/8:30c, following the Season 2 premiere of Bill Lawrence’s Undateable.

Conspiracy drama Odyssey, about three people—a female soldier, a corporate lawyer and a political activist—whose lives become intertwined when its discovered an American corporation might be funding Jihadists, starts Sunday, April 5 at 10/9c. Anna FrielPeter Facinelli, and Jake Robinson star.

NBC also announced that medical drama The Night Shift will return for its second season onMonday, Feb. 23 at 10/9c. As previously announcedThe Blacklist will air a special post-Super Bowl episode on Feb. 1, and move to its new timeslot on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 10/9c.
