A new Hilton Garden Inn officially opened for business Thursday and is projected to add 40 new jobs.

Company and elected officials cut the ribbon on the $20 Million hotel. The project was funded in part by a grant from the Regional Economic Development Council and also from the Steuben County Industrial Development Agency.

The IDA Executive Director was at the ceremony and said how the hotel will help the Corning area.

“Not only is it a $20 million investment in our community, which will increase the tax base, but we have a hotel that will now be able to attract people to stay in this community,” Jamie Johnson, the IDA Executive Director, said. “And of course when people stay in the community then they spend money on eateries and shops, you know do shopping so ita really is a huge economic boon to our community.”
