A program meant to help those with developmental disabilities is now officially in use across New York State. The changes are largely in part to the push by a local assemblyman who has a son with autism.
New York’s new Developmental Disability ID cards are now officially being issued. Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara says this will make things easier for people like his son Michael.
“This can apply to a number of different related conditions as well where communication issues and other issues are present.”
Local police departments say this will help them respond to situations better as well.
