NY brush burning ban starts Saturday

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is reminding everyone that the annual brush burning ban starts this Saturday, March 16th.

The DEC says that while most of the state is still covered in snow, warming temperatures can quickly cause wildfire conditions.

If you get caught burning during the ban, you could face both criminal and civil enforcement actions with a minimum fine of $500 for a first-time offense.

The ban ends on May 14th.
