NY state holding public listening sessions on legalizing marijuana

New York state is hosting public listening sessions this week in New York City as part of a statewide effort to gather input on proposals to legalize recreational marijuana in the state.

The first session will be held today in Queens; there will be another on Tuesday in Brooklyn, and a third in Staten Island on Wednesday.

These sessions follow several others that have been held across upstate N.Y. More are anticipated.

Governor Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers are expected to take up those proposals by next year.
