NYSF and Elmira College partner together giving athletes new opportunities

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM)- New York Sport and Fitness (NYSF) has a new local partner. Elmira College and NYSF have come together to create new opportunities for local student athletes.

Owner of NYSF, John Maio, spoke with 18 Sports today about the importance of having opportunities like this for athletes.

Maio, an Elmira native, along with the partnership received a new titled at Elmira College as Elmira college’s first ever Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Maio got his start in conditioning training as a fitness trainer at Club Nautilus in the year 2000. He then began coaching football as a Strength and Conditioning coach at Elmira Notre Dame High School in 2003.

This all eventually led to him opening up his own workout facility (NYSF) in downtown Elmira in 2005.

The new partnership between NYSF and Elmira College is going to allow opportunites for athletes from over 15 different teams at the college to build their strength and skill sets at the NYSF facilities.
