PA man pleads guilty after federal child predator sting in Horseheads

Jason Girven is in the Allegany County Jail awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to traveling from Pennsylvania and attempting to meet an underage girl in Horseheads in July 2018.

Girven traveled to the Colonial Manor apartments at 1073 Sing Sing Road in Horseheads on July 31, 2018, believing he would meet with the girl, bringing Reese’s candy and a breakfast pizza, but was instead met by investigators.

In court documents acquired by WETM, the 35-year-old Pennsylvania man messaged who he believed to be an underage girl on the messaging app Kik around June 2017. In reality, he was talking to an undercover New York State Police Investigator.

According to the documents, Girven “knowingly, using a facility or means of interstate or foreign commerce, attempted to persuade, induce, entice or coerce an individual who had not attained the age of 18 years, to engage in sexual activity.”

Girven commented on the girl’s breasts, other sexual acts, and said “if you’re my (girlfriend) I am definitely gonna kiss you lol besides, you have a beautiful smile and I bet kiss great.”

Girven admitted to sending text messages to who he believed to be the child.

According to court documents, Girven “stated that he only intended on kissing the minor victim and would not engage in sex with her despite admitting that he participated in the text communication with the minor where they discussed engaging in sex.”

Girven formally pled guilty on Dec. 21. The Department of Homeland Security assisted in investigating the case.
