Some companies are now offering the option to work at home for a week to welcome a new pet. 

This “fur-ternity” or “paw-ternity” (used interchangeably) has been adopted by a few companies nationwide. 

A Minnesota based marketing company is now adopting this policy as incentive to retain employees.

Another example is mParticle, a data company in New York, offering two weeks of paid time off for those who adopt a rescue dog or get an exotic pet, such as an iguana. 

The idea behind the policy is to allow for the best health of the pet as well as the peace of mind of the new pet owner.
