The New York State Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that work will begin in late April to improve pedestrian ramps along West Water Street, between Curren Drive and Demarest Parkway, in the town of Elmira.

Workers will reconstruct pedestrian ramps to be compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards at these intersections.

The project is anticipated to be completed in May 2019.

During construction, motorists will encounter shoulder closures and flaggers.  Pedestrians can expect portions of sidewalks to be barricaded off with signs directing passage through work areas.
