The Waverly Police Department received two calls from residents alerting them of a phone scam.

According to the Department’s Facebook page, they received calls from people saying they were told by someone they had a warrant out for their arrest. In those phone calls, people were asked personal information such as their social security number and banking information.

The Waverly Police Department reminds everyone that “no credible agency or institution will ever ask for your personal information over the phone.”

If you receive a phone call from someone asking for this type of information, hang up and notify the authorities about the incident.
