Police: Child found safe after Amber Alert issued in Rochester


Police say the one-year-old girl reported missing in Rochester has been found safe.

We’re told the child was brought back home after the Amber Alert was issued Tuesday afternoon.

The initial alert said 1-year-old Ta-Niyah Williams may have been at risk. However, Tuesday evening, officers said the baby was okay and had been brought back to the home.

Police say the person who took her, Terrence Williams, the child’s father, is not facing criminal charges at this time. It’s not clear if Terrence Williams was the person who brought her home.


The Rochester Police Department has activated the New York State AMBER Alert and is investigating a child abduction that occurred on Dewey Ave, in Rochester, New York at about 8:00 PM on November 19, 2018.

The CHILD, Ta-Niyah Williams is a Black female, approximately 1 year 6 months old with short, black hair and brown eyes. She is approximately 2 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 22 pounds.

The SUSPECT, Terrence Williams is a Black male, approximately 27 years old with short, blonde hair and hazel eyes. He is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds.

The suspect was last seen traveling on Dewey Ave.

The child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious harm and/or death.
