Police investigating riot at Arnot Mall MMA event

(UPDATE 2:20 p.m.): New York State Police confirmed one man was arrested. James Pfrehm, 42, of Homer was charged with resisting arrest and second-degree harassment. He was issued an appearance ticket at the time of being arrested on the scene.

Chemung County Undersheriff Sean Holly confirmed to 18 News that a riot took place at a sanctioned MMA event at the Arnot Mall on May 11.

Multiple agencies were called to control the crowd and break up the riot with the first call going out at 8:45 p.m.

Alcohol was served at the event, according to Undersheriff Holly, and law enforcement is checking to see if a permit was issued.

There is no word on if, or how many, people were arrested.

18 News has reached out to the Arnot Mall for comment, but have not heard back.
