Police were called out to the Dandy Mini-Mart in Waverly on Saturday.

The reason, making sure a 5-year-old boy named James had a happy birthday!

He told his family he wanted a police-themed party and invited members of the Waverly Police Department.

Officers were happy to go, having pizza, refreshments and mini donuts. James grandmother, Denice Prinzi, says she’ is thankful they were able to make time for him.

“I don’t know who had bigger smiles, I really don’t, I don’t know between the officers and James,” Prinzi said. “He was just so happy to see them. Of course, he tells them their jobs, the chief keeps saying he’s going to be the chief of police in Waverly someday.”

Prinzi said James has aspirations to be an officer when he is older. James was made a junior police officer in 2017.
