South Carolina GOP to skip 2020 presidential primary

Political News

(CNN) – Republican leaders in South Carolina will skip a presidential primary in 2020.

The move would give President Donald Trump all of the state’s Republican delegate votes without competition.

Republican Party leaders in other states, including Nevada, Arizona, and Kansas have expressed interest in nixing their presidential primaries.

Former South Carolina Congressman Mark Sanford, former Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh, and former Massachusetts Governor William Weld are all running for the Republican nomination against President Trump.
