Mike Krusen began his public service career in Chemung County in 1987 as Deputy City Manager for the city of Elmira. In 1990, he became the Director of Personnel/Labor Relations for Chemung County.
Since 2000, Krusen has served as Chemung County’s Deputy County Executive, where he oversees a $240 million dollar operating budget supporting multiple departments with over 1,000 employees.
In 2015, he became the President of the Southern Tier Economic Growth, where he is responsible for economic development initiatives within Chemung County.
Krusen also serves as the Executive Director of the Chemung County Industrial Development Agency.
Krusen is involved with the Elmira Downtown Revitalization Initiative and the Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative on behalf of the City of Elmira, and serves on the I-86 Innovation Corridor steering committee
