It does not look like there will be a primary race for the Republican Nominee in New York’s 23rd Congressional District.

Incumbent Representative Tom Reed is seeking re-election and though Gary Perry of Waverly circulated petitions to run against Reed, he did not achieve the 1,250 signatures needed to get on the ballot.

Perry says he sought to run against Reed because he may campaign like a conservative, but he does not vote like one in Washington.

As of now, there is no independent candidate running for the 23rd Congressional seat.

Incumbent Tom Reed has filed to run along the Republican, Conservative, Independence, and Reform Party lines.

Challenger John Plumb has filed to run along the Democratic and Working Families Party lines.

The deadline to file a petition to run as an Independent candidate in the general election is August 2nd.
