Rochester police responded to five shootings overnight starting Sunday evening.
The first call came in when someone opened fire on a U-Haul truck near Warehouse Street. It happened around 7:30 p.m. and the driver was not hit. Police say the suspect and the victim likely knew each other.
About an hour after that police investigated reports of gunshots on Manitou Street.
A 20-year-old man was taken Rochester General Hospital with at least one gunshot wound to his lower body. We’re told he may have been shot while attending a cookout in the area.
His injuries are non-life threatening.
According to the Rochester Police Department, patrol officers were in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Shelter Street around 10:00 Sunday night when they heard a gunshot.
Those officers found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his lower body.
Police took several people into custody who were fleeing the scene, but they haven’t confirmed if any of them were involved.
The victim was taken to the University of Rochester Medical Center and is expected to survive.
About two hours later, the fourth call of the night was from Bauman and Weyl. RPD found an 18-year-old Rochester resident with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.
He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The fifth call was on Potter Street around 12:30 a.m.
Police responded to a call and were investigating when the suspected victim of those gunshots arrived at Strong. The 28-year-old had at least one gunshot wound to his lower body. Police say his injuries are not fatal.
