Both eastbound and westbound lanes have re-opened after a pile-up crash involving more than 20 vehicles near Batavia shut down the highway in both directions Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers said 21-vehicles, including tractor trailers, were involved in the crash near mile marker 382  around 2 p.m. in the eastbound lanes.

Traffic is still being diverted for eastbound lanes at Exit 48A in Pembroke.

Troopers are working to determine injuries to drivers. We’re told a trooper was involved in the wreck and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Tractor trailers were banned from the Thruway west of Rochester starting Tuesday evening. It’s not clear what charges the truck drivers involved in the crash will face for failing to follow the state order.
