Court papers: Homicide suspect admits to shooting, killing man in Rochester

Regional News

Police say a Wayne County man has admitted to shooting and killing another man, following an investigation that spanned from Rochester to Syracuse.

In court papers, police say Aries Ash admitted to shooting the victim on Pennsylvania Avenue in Rochester earlier this week. The victim’s body was found in a vacant home on Dearborn Place in Syracuse on Tuesday as a result of an investigation by Rochester and state police.

Right now, it’s not clear how the victim’s body ended up in Syracuse after being shot on Rochester’s northeast side.

Both Ash, 30, and Charisse Walton,36, who Ash said was with him at the time of the murder, are charged with murder.

Both suspects were arrested on Tuesday after a short police chase in Rochester. Officers said Ash and Walton were in a car that drove away from officers on Culver Road and later crashed into a dump truck on Clifford Avenue. Neither suspect was seriously hurt in the crash.
