DANSVILLE, N.Y. (WROC) — Dansville Central School District schools closed Wednesday as district officials announced a bus driver suffered a medical emergency that led to a serious crash.

According to an update provided by staff members, Walter “Ed’ Greek experienced a medical emergency while returning his bus to the school’s garage Tuesday night.

Officials with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office say the driver was the only person on the bus at the time of the accident. He was transported to the hospital, where he is believed to be in a very serious condition.

Authorities say the school closures were prompted by the type of incident along with the logistical process of ensuring transportation employees returned to work without distraction Thursday.

The incident involved the bus driven by Greek and another bus that was parked inside the garage.

Officials say evening activities such as the high school’s concert performance will go on as scheduled. No Dansville school buses will be running Wednesday.
