Man arrested after house fire leads to 13 hospitalized

A 41-year-old Pennsylvania man is being charged for arson and attempted murder. Police says Matthew Karelefsky set the home of Rabbi Jonathan Max on fire Thursday morning in Brooklyn. 

Police have video footage of the incident and believes the suspect set Rabbi Max’s car on fire to send a message. The fire spread to Rabbi Max’s home and spread to the neighboring homes while everyone was sleeping. 

Officials responded to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m. where the three homes were engulfed in flames. 

13 people being hospitalized including a 6-week old infant. There were no fatalities and all injured people will be okay. 

Karelefsky was not granted bail, and the case will go to a grand jury June 20.
