There are new developments in two fatalities over the weekend that are under investigation.
The first update is about the fatal shooting incident on Friday at 342 Hardscrabble Road.
On Monday authorities identified the victim as 42-year-old Tiffany Crossett of Elmira Heights.
The Chemung County Sheriff’s office reports that Crossett and two other people, including the property owner had been shooting firearms in a wooded area behind the home. Crosett was pronounced dead at the scene. Sheriff’s officials were seen collecting evidence.
The initial stages of the investigation show alcohol may have played a role. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
The other investigation involves the death of a woman in the town of Baldwin.
State Police Investigator Nick Medina told 18 News that 45-year-old Jelene Peck was killed when she jumped from a moving car on Friday afternoon. Police say Peck was a passenger when she jumped out from that moving car on Wyncoop Creek Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the case is still under investigation, police say they don’t believe there’s any reason to suspect foul play.
