While some are trying to soak up the last days of summer, others are already looking forward to fall.
Some of those people stopped at Riesinger’s Apple Country in Watkins. The apple farm opened to customers today.
Owner Rick Reisinger says he’s happy at least some of the apples are ready to be picked after the dry summer we’ve had.
“Yeah it’s hard to believe we’re here already, but no it’s really perfect it’s warm but for me just seening the apples being picked is worth it because it’s been a challenging year,” Reisinger says.
“And so we’ve been able to water everything from our ponds so we’re good,” he says.
Only a few varieties of apples were ripe enough to pick today. Reisinger says they’ll allow customers to pick more varieties when they’re more ripe later in the season.
Reisinger’s Apple County is open from 9-6 every day. For more information click here.
