A 20-year-old college student from Minnesota was found stabbed to death in a Seneca County corn field 31 years ago, and today State Police are still trying to find her killer – or killers.

Kristin O’Connell of Burnsville, Minn. was visiting a friend in Ovid when she was killed.

Around 11 p.m. on Aug. 14, 1985, she left what police described as a gathering at the friend’s home and took a walk.

When she didn’t return, her friends looked for her, and then reported her disappearance to State Police the next morning.

O’Connell was found in a field off of West Seneca Street on Aug. 16.

A number of people told State Police that they saw O’Connell walking along County Route 139, and others say they saw her talking to someone in a vehicle stopped along the roadway.

She was later seen walking in the direction of a trailer, with two men following 30 feet behind her.

Neither the vehicle, nor the men have been identified.

State Police say nearly 2,000 leads have been investigated.
