State Police say they stopped two men who had hundreds of doses of heroin.

Now, troopers say, 55-year-old Frank Roman and 23-year-old Erbert Edfrain Rosario are charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Troopers say the men, who are both from Springfield, Massachusetts, were stopped Friday morning around 4:30 a.m. for speeding on I-490 in Victor. During the traffic stop, troopers say they found about 500 doses of heroin in the vehicle.

Trooper Mark O’Donnell says, “We’re not exactly sure where the drugs came from, but we know they were going towards the Rochester area. So, it’s a very significant arrest. It’s a very significant seizure of drugs to get off the streets and save potentially dozens and dozens of lives.”

Both men were taken to Ontario County Jail ahead of arraignment.
